About Ludovica
“After completing my MSc in Nutrition and the MPhil in Clinical Dietetics, I worked in the Gastroenterological department focusing on Allergies Management. From there, I then partnered with the Italian National Association for Coeliac Diseases, creating tools, videos.etc to help patients build the confidence to navigate the different phases after their Coeliac Disease diagnoses. From there, I went into the Tech side of allergens management, working for Spoon Guru to manage allergies in everyday grocery shopping.
These shaped my perspectives of the new tools that can help newly diagnosed clients understand and adapt to their new dietary requirements, without compromising on their health, physically and mentally.”
Q1: Could you introduce YOUR STARTUP, REVEAL, to us?
Ludovica: Reveal is an AI based platform and app that gives anyone with unique dietary requirements (such as allergies, intolerances, specific lifestyles) the freedom of choice when eating out or ordering takeaway/delivery. Through the match of AI and nutrition expertise, Reveal creates accessibility to detailed information about a dish’s ingredients and nutritional value.
I created Reveal to make the experience of having meals out safe and enjoyable again! When you are diagnosed with a food allergy, finding what you can eat is the biggest challenge, often disrupting these special occasions with family and friends. Making information accessible and restaurant dining enjoyable again is the essence of Reveal.
I believe technology and knowledge can help people to explore safe and suitable foods. I want it to help them reframe their condition as unique traits, rather than a burden.
Q2: It’s interesting how you’ve combined your skillset with such a strong purpose. How have your personal experiences shaped your venture that we see today?
Ludovica: My whole life has shaped Reveal. My grandad was a chef, my mum has food allergies so I’ve grown up talking about the different ingredients, ways to cook them, and saw how food shaped my culture. In my professional experiences, I’ve worked with allergies and dietary restrictions, helping people to build their knowledge and negotiation tools. During my work across hospitals and tech ventures, I pursued this idea that safe and suitable food should be a person’s right, not an option.
Reveal was really born from the understanding of how food deeply connects with any social and human experience.
Q3: How did you apply our Pre-Accelerator to the development of Reveal?
Ludovica: The pre-accelerator has given me the know-hows of creating a business with simple, logical and practical steps. Its level of interactivity also threw me into this learning curve, where I got to test each learning point with an open minded and inclusive community.
Q4: You’ve been developing Reveal for awhile now – how has our Pre-Accelerator compared to other experiences/support THAT you have had?
Ludovica: The melting pot of ideas and the constant nudge to share with the other entrepreneurs really stood out. Every accelerator has their own focus points and I learn many things from each of them. However at SeedReady, I got a genuine networking experience and a lively one, albeit challenged by the completely virtual setting.
